Program Notes

This setting of Adeste Fidelis ('O Come, All Ye Faithful') includes parts for C and B-flat trumpets as well as an optional flugelhorn part that is interchangeable with the horn part. The opening should be played in a heroic style. From measures 33-35, the tempo slows into a more lyrical, song-like style, which lasts through measure 53. The 1st trumpet pickup into measure 54 signals a return to the opening march-like style. From here, it should sound like a gradual build to the triumphant end... It’s Christmas!
