Matt Amy

Matt Amy has built a busy freelance career that involves performing (Bass Trombone/Trombone), composing, arranging, educating and producing. Graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2006, Matt gained a bachelor of composition and was awarded the Frank Bosch scholarship, at the same time Matt was running and writing for his own Big Band as well as establishing his freelance arranging work.

Shortly after his university studies and at the age of 21, Matt began writing commercially for T.V with credits including Australia's Got Talent, Australian Idol, It Takes Two and Dancing with the stars. Matt has 13 albums to his credit (composer/arranger/trombonist) and has had big band works performed in over 25 countries and is regularly commissioned to write for bands in high schools, universities and organizations from all over the world.

Currently Matt is working with the Performing Arts Unit as an educator (rhythm section/lower brass), arranger, copyist and sound designer/programmer to produce the Victorian State School Spectacular ? a professionally staged production that consists of over 3,000 primary and secondary students including vocalists, dancers, massed choir and an 80-piece orchestra.
